Text Box: Andra’s Animal Reiki Therapy

“The perfect complement to veterinary care.”

My Reiki Story

Reiki found me in the Spring of 1999.  I had worked myself to the point of physical collapse on top of having purchased a house I was struggling to properly care for.  My art instructor was concerned about my well-being so she arranged for me to receive a tarot reading from her sister-in-law.  Not having had that experience before I said, why not, I’m curious.  After the reading the psychic asked me if I was sick.  She felt that I was in need of immediate healing and booked a multi-dimensional energy healing session for me with Mega R. Mease.  I had no idea what to expect and had not heard of Reiki.

When I walked in the door Mega said, “so you’re a healer.”  I thought, OK, whatever that means.  I began seeing Mega regularly for sessions and enrolled in her First Degree Reiki class the next month.  It was clear that I had no choice but to follow that path or surely my body would fail.  That first year, it felt like Mega and Reiki were the only things keeping me going along with my spirit and my cats.   I stayed on the Reiki path, continued my training and completed the Certified Reiki Master-Teacher program with Mega in 2005.

Over the years I have sent distance Reiki to friends, to my grandmother during her transition, to my relationships; I gave it to pretty much every animal I came across on the road who was hurt, orphaned, dying, lost, and to others.  This is simply because I want to share it and make their world a better place for us all.  This felt pretty cool as I had a strong desire as a child to help animals in need, and volunteered with wildlife rehabilitators to help injured and orphaned animals recover and go back to the wild, and now I had this skill where I could do more for them than I could before.  Exciting!

I perform Reiki daily on myself to keep my body, mind, and emotions balanced, to energize me, to empower myself, as well as to grow spiritually.  I also send distance Reiki to situations to help me keep moving in the best direction and make healthier choices.  In addition I enjoy sending Reiki to larger situations such as the adoption of homeless domestic animals, those affected by Hurricane Katrina, the California wildfires, and the plight of the polar bears and baby harp seals.  I have been reluctant to publicly declare myself a healer; however, at the prompting of Mega and my Reiki classmates I can no longer refuse the call to practice Reiki in a more formal way.  Thus, the creation of Andra’s Animal Reiki Therapy.  I am grateful to be at your service.
